Q & A with KDL Logistiksysteme GmbH

KDL Logistiksysteme has been  an authorized reseller of the GSW Telnet Server for Windows and SSH Server for Windows since 2009. Here is a Q&A with Christian Lobsien, Senior Manager of KDL.

Q: In what industries are you using GSW software?

A. We are using Georgia Softworks Telnet Server for logistic solutions especially in the field of intra logistics within warehouses.

The warehouses can be in different industries such as Electronics, Packaging, Furniture, Food, Logistic Service Provider or many others.

Q: How does GSW fit into the solutions you provide?

A: Georgia Softworks Telnet Server fits very well into the solutions we provide as in many cases we follow the philosophy to keep things rather simple for the user. In our Warehouse management system we use Georgia Telnet Server especially for the radio frequency communication with mobile terminals via WLAN. Our software is built in a way that we communicate step by step with the radio frequency user (e.g. a forklift driver) giving exact commands like

“Outbound Transport

Location 012-010-017-004

Scan Pallet”

and awaiting simple answers like a scanned pallet ID followed by a new command like

“Outbound Transport

Target: Gate 14

Scan Target”

For such a simple and clear communication the Georgia Softworks Telnet Server is an optimal solution.

Q: Why did you pick GSW to use in your solutions?

A: We use the Georgia Softworks Telnet Server in our solution as it is easy to use and to maintain and it perfectly fits to our needs.

Q: Is there any particular feature of GSW software that stands out?

A: Automatic reconnect when session is lost.

Q: What is the typical topology of an installation. For example, are you using mobile devices? If so what kind? Is the server that houses GSW software on site, different location, cloud?

A: We are using all kinds of mobile devices via radio frequency. The exact device is always defined by our customer. So it can be hand terminals as well as forklift terminals or others of all kinds of brands. The server is usually located on site, but can be in a different room than the server for our warehouse management system. We also use setups where all machines are “virtual” machines host on one large server.

Q:  Is there anything you would like to say about GSW software or services?

A: Georgia Softworks Telnet Server is absolutely stable and reliable!
